The Journey Ahead
Madeline (Peete) is an aging Hollywood actress who has no meaningful relationships. After a string of bad luck, Madeline hires her assistant’s friend Sarah (Bryant) to drive her from LA to New York, as she does not like to fly and needs to arrive in time for an urgent medical appointment. The road trip has a rocky start, as Madeline and Sarah clash due to their different lifestyles and personalities. When their car breaks down and they’re stuck in a charming small town, Madeline and Sarah soon start to find some common ground. Having grown closer, they divulge personal hardships to one another, and each provide support to help them through. With Madeline’s encouragement, Sarah reconciles with her mother and commits to finishing college. Madeline meanwhile gets a clean bill of health and, with a new lease on life, she meets her daughter that she had given up for adoption back when she was a teenager. The bond that Madeline and Sarah form develops into a close friendship that stands the test of time.
